Project title: A Moment of Stillness
Level: Young Creator Photography

A Moment of Stillness captures a quiet pause in the middle of a vast mountain landscape. Three Buddhist monks sit together on a simple wooden bench, facing the valley below. What drew me to the scene was not just the view, but the stillness of the moment and the way the three figures seemed completely connected to the space around them. I photographed them from behind so the viewer could experience the landscape with them rather than simply look at them. Their red robes stand out against the muted mountains and naturally guide the eye through the image. For me, the photograph is about more than the location. It is about perspective, presence, and the kind of moment that feels ordinary while it is happening but stays with you long after.

Vaidic Soni is a Computer Science student at Texas State University whose interests bring together technology, creativity, and curiosity. While his academic and professional work focuses on software, data, and artificial intelligence, photography is something he enjoys simply for the experience of it. It gives him a chance to step away from screens, explore, and pay closer attention to the world around him.

He especially enjoys traveling and spending time in the mountains, where changing landscapes, quiet moments, and unexpected perspectives naturally inspire him to take photographs. Rather than following one specific photographic style, he tends to capture whatever genuinely catches his attention, whether that is a view, a person, a fleeting moment, or a scene that feels worth remembering. For Vaidic, photography is less about creating the perfect image and more about preserving the feeling of being somewhere, seeing something differently, and enjoying the process along the way.
